LOCAL taxi drivers were given lunch and goodie bags by G Hotel Kelawai as part of an awareness campaign on the newly opened establishment in Penang Island
Each of the 100 cabbies, from the Taxi Drivers Association of Gurney Drive, received T-shirts, car stickers and sun shades printed with the hotel logo and tagline.
General manager Michael Hanratty thanked them for supporting sister property G Hotel Gurney over the years, and expressed his hope they would now help promote the state’s latest 5-star hotel.
“Opened on Feb 16, G Hotel Kelawai is modern and contemporary, and offers 208 stylish rooms equipped with Serta beds, touted as the world’s best mattress.
“We also have Herman Miller designer working chairs, eco-friendly Applles toiletries and 55-inch smart LED TV in rooms.
“Amenities include a 24-hour gymnasium, rooftop infinity pool, executive lounge, business centre, meeting rooms, and various food and beverage outlets.
“We hope that after today, you’ve learnt a little more about our hotel,” Hanratty noted in his speech.
He also annouced a Taxi Incentive Programme for all cabbies, who stand to receive a RM30 cash reward for bringing walk-in guests without any prior bookings or reservations to the hotel until June 30.
In a press conference following the launch, association secretary Kang Wei Keong pledged their support, and said the extra commission would be a great incentive for them.
Also present was G Hotel Kelawai resident manager S. Punitha Mary and other department heads.
